What is the apprenticeship levy?
The apprenticeship levy is a new scheme that has been introduced by the government to change the way apprenticeships are funded from April 2017.
How does the apprenticeship levy affect me?
If your organisation has a payroll of over £3 million you will have to make a contribution towards your apprenticeships of 0.5% of your annual payroll.
The government will contribute £15,000.00 towards your allowance every tax year, which will be deducted from the amount you would have to contribute.
£5,000,000.00 X 0.5% = £25,000.00
£25,000.00 – £15,000.00 (the government allowance) = £10,000.00
So £10,000.00 will be your annual levy payment.

Who can do an apprenticeship?
Any manager in your organisation no matter their age can do an apprenticeship as long as they do not have an existing qualification at the same level or higher in the same topic as the apprenticeship.
