National Probation Service
Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust commissioned us to design and deliver an accredited ILM programme in Management across 3 cohorts of 10-20 participants each. The programme was designed to provide management with new and refreshed skills to deliver real and tangible change in the face of sector reform and the challenge of competition for service provision.
The workforce is dispersed, professional and under some pressure at all times so the programme was designed for minimum attendance by blending workshops, self-study and e-learning.
We are now on our 8th cohort and have been working for Probation for over 5 years.
Topics covered within the programme include managing and improving service delivery, dealing with budget reductions and the challenge of contestability. The programme was delivered across the region at multiple sites including Brighton, Hove and Godalming.
The programme was managed using Flexilearner to provide 24/7 flexible access to learning materials, resources and tutors. The learners’ forum and online chat room provide the opportunity to provide virtual learning sets and study groups.
The programme has been delivered to over 250 Probation officers to date.
