In the private sector, it may be about forging relationships, systems and processes that power collaboration, in manufacturing, supply chain management, marketing and service delivery.

In the public sector, it will focus on the necessity to deliver more with limited amounts of the public budget, without diminishing service quality.

In health & social care, it will be creating the solutions, systems and mindsets that deliver integrated care in a world where clinical and professional staff resources will never keep pace with demographics, population growth and rising expectations. In this scenario, the only solution must focus on increasing the productivity of a precious staff resource by doing things differently.

Systems thinking practitioners are an essential and powerful catalyst in the organisation of the future. They make sense of complex situations and challenges and deliver sustainable and viable solutions.

This is a series of postgraduate (Masters level) programmes designed to help practitioners make sense of complex situations and challenges and deliver sustainable and viable solutions.

It will be delivered by some of the world’s leading experts in systems theory and practice.

This apprenticeship is being delivered in collaboration with SCiO who are acknowledged by the UK Institute of Apprenticeships as the professional body for Systems Thinking Practitioners. New starts every quarter using a unique carousel model.

Why Practice Systems Thinking?

Tackle Complex Problems: Many challenges have interconnected causes and effects. By viewing the bigger picture and understanding relationships within a situation, you can identify patterns, causal mechanisms, structures, power dynamics, and design changes that address the system as a whole, rather than just treating symptoms.

Enhance Decision-Making: Systems thinking provides a structured approach to analyse complex situations, leading to more informed and effective decisions.

Drive Sustainable Change: By understanding the systemic implications of actions, practitioners can design interventions that lead to lasting and meaningful improvements.

The apprenticeship covers a variety of modules, including:

  • Critical Systems Heuristics (CSH) – find out more about this module here.
  • Soft Systems Methodology – find out more about this module here.
  • Patterns of Strategy – find out more about this module here.
