Promoting a Supportive, Respectful Learning Culture at Cherith Simmons

At Cherith Simmons Learning & Development LLP, we recognise that mental health and wellbeing play a vital role in learner engagement, progress and achievement.

Our approach is practical, proportionate and learner-centred. At present, mental health and wellbeing are formally embedded through tripartite meetings, where learner experience, workplace pressures and support needs are discussed jointly with employers.

Alongside this, support, guidance and external mental health resources are available at all times to learners, employers and staff.

Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Commitment

We aim to:

  • promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • create a supportive and respectful learning environment
  • reduce stigma around mental health
  • encourage early conversations and help-seeking
  • ensure learners know how and where to access support

Mental health and wellbeing are closely linked to safeguarding, inclusion and learner success.

How Mental Health & Wellbeing Works in Practice (Current Position)

Mental Health & Wellbeing Through Tripartite Meetings

Mental health and wellbeing are formally discussed during tripartite reviews, involving the learner, employer and training provider.

During these meetings we:

  • discuss the learner’s overall experience and wellbeing
  • review workload, expectations and workplace pressures
  • identify any concerns affecting mental health or engagement
  • agree supportive actions collaboratively where needed
  • reinforce available support and signposting

This reflects the reality that many wellbeing pressures arise within the workplace, particularly for adult apprentices balancing work, learning and personal responsibilities.

Outcome: wellbeing concerns are identified and addressed collaboratively, with shared responsibility.

Ongoing Access to Support Outside Tripartite Reviews

Although mental health and wellbeing are formally embedded in tripartite meetings, learners are not limited to raising concerns only at these points.

Learners can:

  • contact Cherith Simmons at any time for advice or support
  • speak informally with tutors or assessors
  • access independent mental health resources directly

Where concerns indicate safeguarding risk, they are managed appropriately and sensitively.

  • using learner and employer feedback to inform improvements

Mental health and wellbeing are not static — they are continuously reviewed and strengthened.
